Every day we eat food to obtain energy, growth, and nutrients. However, the food we consume cannot be used directly by our body. It must first be broken down into simpler substances that can be absorbed and utilized by cells.

This process of breaking down food into simpler absorbable forms is called digestion.

The digestive system is a complex network of organs that work together to digest food, absorb nutrients, and remove waste materials. Without digestion, our body would not receive the energy and nutrients necessary for survival.
